Why?
The reason behind this newsletter
Hi 48 brave people that signed up for Captainship Daily yesterday! Thank you for subscribing! š
Now letās see how fast I can make you click the āunsubscribeā button with my sh*tty writing š¤£
Yesterday I shared my plan to start a daily newsletter about captainship. Today I want to talk a bit about why.
When I first started thinking about the post announcing the newsletter, I tried to imagine peopleās reaction to it.
Another newsletter? On leadership? Aleā¦ š¤
What can possibly be said about leadership that has not been said already?
The answer to that question is pretty straightforward. Not much. But thatās not the point.
The point is that I want to share the mistakes I made and the lessons I learned in the past 10 years as a captain with as many people as possible. Why? Because perhaps that will help them (you?) not make the same mistakes.
Yes, there are plenty of management books out there that tell you what to do and what not to do. The thing is that captainship is highly situational. The books do a great job of describing the general principles. But those principles must be applied to the specific situation we are in.
My goal with Captainship Daily is to detail scenarios with precision, allowing others in similar (or very similar) circumstances to resonate with those scenarios and, hopefully, avoid the same mistakes I've made.
For those of you that know me and work with me closely, you know that Iām always eager to share my experiences and mistakes. However, the number of 1:1 conversations I can have is limited by the number of hours in a day. And so the newsletter idea was born.
If you are here for earth-shattering leadership advice, youāll be running away soon. Iām just another idiot on the internet š But if you are interested to hear about all the mistakes I made and the lessons I learned in the past 10 years, you are in the right spot.
See you on Monday for the first (real) post!

P.S. If you notice any issues with the newsletter (text is not legible, weird formatting issues, you hate the colors,ā¦), please respond to this email to let me know. Thank you! š
